I saved this quilt to post for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival. I finally finished Lottie’s birthday quilt, just in time for her party two weeks ago.

She loves it. I wanted to make her something bright and fun for her new bedroom, and I loved the fabrics from It’s a Hoot by MoMo. I thought they would look great in the Marmalade pattern by Thimble Blossoms, a.k.a. Camille Roskelley, a.k.a. one of the nicest people I met at Quilt Market this week.

I was only able to make it to a few classes in the schoolhouse series today. I started off with Amy Butler previewing her new substrates – voiles, rayon, organics and corduroy. I’m excited for those for clothing.

I was excited to see all of the quilts from Amy Ellis’ Modern Basics book in person. And I may or may not have won a signed copy that may or may not be given away here soon (since I’ve already got my own).

Lila Tueller’s upcoming line is adorable.
I have more pictures, but I left my camera cord at home.

No, not the Vin Diesel movie. I contemplated action movies – deciding what to give to my mom as a gift. Instead, I made fast and furious quilts. I’ve also seen them referred to as 1600 quilts. Me, I’m calling it my “Umpunzel” quilt.

Have you seen these? I first saw it at my local quilt shop, and it was so lovely. Turns out, it’s ridiculously easy and quick to make – hence the name “fast and furious.”

As we start moving furniture into the basement {hooray!} it was very important to me to gather my pretty first. Is that strange? I hope not.

We have had this hutch sitting in the dining room for months. Sitting in two pieces, since we didn’t have anywhere to set it up and we didn’t have anywhere else to put it. It’s now in the corner of my studio (that has no other furniture in it yet).

I hope you all had a great Easter. Our weekend was packed full of fun.

Saturday morning we hit an Easter egg hunt at the local park. A little bit fun… but so not worth the wait for the five minutes it lasted.

Then it was on to Grandma’s house to dye eggs with the cousins.

You can tell that Lottie has a little of my OCD when after the dying was done Ains held up her blue hands. Lottie held up her “green” hands… without a drop of green on them. Every time she got a little on her hands she had to wipe them off.

I’m getting close. So close. I was really considering sending this quilt out to a long-arm quilter, but I just wanted to finish it myself. I decided to go with simple, straight-ish lines. I didn’t want anything to detract from the billions of petals… really with the patterned fabric and the flowers I just didn’t want to overwhelm anything.

And there’s just something so great about the massive pile of fabric on the sewing table as I try to maneuver the quilt through the machine that makes me happy.  I picked up some binding fabric last night and I’m ready to stitch it on.

I know, I said Saturday night, but it was my birthday this weekend and I just took it easy. Well, in all truth, I finished the trim in our basement and just flat out forgot. So, here it is, just a day and a half late. The winner of a Simply Stated Dress is:

Holly

She said “I would choose “Fancy” for my little girl. That’s what her older brother says about her all the time!”  I’ve sent Holly an email. Congratulations!

I’m a sucker for jewelry. I go in spurts. Here are a few new items from some of my Indie Biz classmates that caught my eye.

Sometimes I love the big chunky stuff with bright vibrant colors.

{Knitted Cuff Bracelet by JanMary Designs}

{Patina Bracelet by Pink Pepper Jewellery}

Sometimes I gravitate towards the simple stuff.

{Moon and Back Necklace by Tag… You’re It}

{Infinite Arrow Ring by Jonelle Maira}

And sometimes I just need to make a statement that will make me sing an old Queen song all day.

Lately, I’ve seemed to make life a little too complicated. So I decided to slow it down a little – and introduce a new product!

Really, it does make sense, though it seems it shouldn’t. I know. Introducing: The Simply Stated Polka Dot Dress

Sometimes, one word is all it takes. Sweet, Sassy, Adorable? Maybe a Laugh, Giggle, or Smile?

This adorable dress says everything. And you get to choose what it says. What one word sums up the little girls in your life?

I’ve been taking a course online to develop my Indie Biz. It has really taught me a lot about the business end of my little endeavor here at The Busy Bean.

To celebrate all we learned, there’s a big launch party going on. Some people are launching their shops for the very first time. Some are launching new products, some are celebrating with giveaways. I’ll have a post in the morning with my new product and my giveaway.

For now, I wanted to point you all to the wonderful happenings around the web as part of this celebration.
