The Busy Bean

Lazy No More

Monday was a holiday here. Memorial Day… A day to celebrate our heroes and remember those who have passed before us.

If you’re me, the day was spent laying in bed in jammies all day long having a Harry Potter movie marathon. Seriously, all day in bed. Thank goodness for a hubby who took the kids outside to play while he did yard work, made all the meals (including pancakes in bed for me) and generally did everything. I wasn’t sick or anything, I just didn’t feel like getting up! Please tell me I’m not the only one with days like those.

So, I tried to make up for it yesterday. I baked bread.

It was delicious. It just didn’t look pretty since I forgot to grease my pans.

I made fresh churned butter. Do the calories I burned shaking it counter-balance the fact I smeared it all over warm bread and ate way too much?

I finished up a quilt top using some fabric I picked up a quilt market.

Not just any fabric, possibly the cutest wintertime fabric I have ever seen. Seriously, that Happy Zombie knows her stuff. And she is also just as nice as can be, which is always a plus. Have you ever loved someone’s fabric and then been so totally unimpressed with them as a person that you don’t want to use their fabric anymore? {and that was completely a rhetorical question, I don’t want smear campaigns happening in my comments here.} Monica is not one of those designers. She is genuine and funny and has won a loyal fan in me.

So then I thought I should start on some projects that actually have a deadline…

I got about half of my quilt top for the EZ Dresden challenge pieced. I just need to sash it and add a few little bits.

I’m using another fabric favorite of mine, Peacock Lane from Violet Craft. This was my favorite from market last spring, and her new line I just saw at market, Madrona Road, lives up to and exceeds my expectations from her.

Speaking of market, I’m sorting through the last of my pictures and I will have that post ready for Friday. And today? I knit.
