While I was out of town last week, I didn’t really keep up on my blog reading. I mean, it was vacation, right? So last night and this morning I’ve been wading through over 700 blog updates. Maybe I should try to simplify that part of my life? Or maybe not… because there are so many great blogs out there!

I just hit those “vacation is over and I’m heading home” blues. Lottie and I had the chance to go to Disneyland this week with some of my family. {Brad and Kelsey stayed home, since he had to work.} So at least there is something to look forward to when I get back.
Lottie got to play at the beach with her cousin Ains. She even sat in the sand after being there for a while. She was a little unsure of it at first.
And spend some time on her favorite ride…the fences while we wait in lines.

I had the idea one night to add some napkin rings to the place mats I made for my partner in the Spicing Up The Kitchen Swap. I was throwing ideas around in my head until this one popped in. I think they turned out fabulous, so I thought I’d share with you how to make them!
They are pretty simple, but pack a big punch. And all you need is a few strips of fabric, felt, 1″ webbing, a sewing machine and a glue gun.

I love Valentine’s Day. Even when I was single, I still loved it – I love the super cheesy overly stereotypical expressions of love that are only OK one day a year. And that day is today. (I still don’t like roses though.)
Here’s what I’ve been up to:
Making valentines with the girls. They’re not pretty, but they’re made with love.
Making myself a wreath that I totally intended to do a tutorial for, and probably still will, since you could do the same thing with any number of colors.
I’m in a fun swap on Flickr, Spicing up the Kitchen. It’s been fun to look online for new things to make. My partner really wanted placemats, and I happened to have a charm pack of Bliss by Bonnie & Camille in my stash, which was the perfect color for her kitchen. Here’s what I came up with for her.
And a little tutorial for you!
What you need to make four placemats:
One Charm Pack
3/4 yards of coordinating fabric for front
1 yard backing fabric
1 yard fleece (for batting)
1/2 yard binding fabric
