October 2010

It’s been a while. We went on vacation, and I’ve been crazy busy since we got back.

I did manage to get my girls outfitted for Halloween. Lottie insisted she wanted to be Perry the Platypus, from Phineas & Ferb. She loves him. She cries when he is sad. She claps and jumps up and down when he is happy.

So here’s what I came up with for Perry:

Blue fleece pants and a fleece jacket (after all, we did have snow a few days before Halloween). A swingin’ fedora. And of course, a platypus tail. I made shoe covers and a beak as well, but she wouldn’t leave them on.

Tonight just feels like home. You know that feeling?

Nice dinner with the family as the sun was setting, cleaning up the dishes while I listen to the girls and their daddy playing during bath time.

Fall is here. The air is cooler.

Fall means slowing down. Spending more time with family.

Canning.

Settling in for winter.

Fall is warm dinners. Holidays just around the corner.

More time with family.

Summer just seems so busy. So rushed. Running until late at night. (It’s only natural, with the sun up longer.)

It’s a big day around The Busy Bean. After working on it for a while now, we’ve got our own store up and running! See it up there in the header? And on the sidebar? Now you can shop directly on The Busy Bean. This will make it so much easier to list my products, and to do the custom work for you that I love.

Before you wander over and start shopping, enjoy these pictures from our photo shoot!

Oh my. I have been thinking of whoopie pies for days. Days and days. And days.

Yesterday I finally had a chance to make some. And oh my! I’m a pretty good baker. Not so much today.

My first thought was to run over to my friend Pretty Kitten and grab her recipe. I’ve had her cookies before and they were de.lish.ous. Perfect cookies. Perfect filling. Perfect cookie:filling ratio.

Imagine my sadness when I didn’t see the recipe on her site! Of course, I was in too much of a hurry to e-mail her and get the recipe. I thought, “I’ll just find one online.”
